DAWSON'S GAME |
This will be an annual event.
On Tuesday, February 02, 2010 – As part the annual Winterfest celebrations, Minden Hills hosted a hockey game between the Minden Fire Department and the local OPP. "Dawson's Game" was played at the Minden Community Centre on Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2010) in memory of Minden’s little hero, Dawson Hamilton, who lost his battle with leukemia on January 10th of this year.
Organizers of Dawson’s Game recalled how over the past few years Minden came together as a community to support Dawson in his fight. They watched as this brave boy underwent tests and procedures that most of us are fortunate enough to ever have to endure, always with a smile on his face. You couldn't miss how special this boy was.
"Dawson's Game" is named not only in his memory, but because hockey was his game. He attended games whenever the opportunity arose and he was well enough to go.
Many came out to cheer on our local firefighters and policemen and celebrate Dawson’s Game.
