Saturday December 12, 11:00AM Sneh Chakraburtty is passionate about the work of the Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development (CORD) and when she launches two of her books, Ayurvedic Fusion Cooking, and Life Style, at R.D. Lawrence Place on Dec. 12 at 11 a.m., proceeds from books sales will go to CORD. CORD works in conjunction with the Canadian International Development Assistance program to help solve issues stemming from poverty, illiteracy and gender discrimination in northern India. Chakraburtty insists that participating in charitable works is just as much a part of a healthy lifestyle as how you exercise and what you eat.Her book Ayurvedic Fusion Cooking is based on the Indian philosophy of Ayurveda. This cookbook has recipes for everything from tidbits to chutneys but more importantly, it offers great advice on how to choose food combinations that will defeat indigestion and other stomach ailments rather than use antacids. Her companion book, LifeStyle, goes into further explanation of how Ayurveda treats health issues with diet changes, physical exercise, yoga, education in psychology, spirituality and detoxification. Chakraburtty uses charming short narrative stories as well as charts, definitions and explanations to illustrate how to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Sunday, December 13, 10:30am Be part of this global moment of hope. This event is part of the weekly Gaia Gatherings at the Blue Sky Studio. The theme this weekend is The Scary Sacred Dark. We'll hear a story about the scary and sacred dark. We'll light some candles and send light to where in our lives and our world its needed. And we'll join with light-workers around the world that are committed to climate restoration. To close this Sunday's Gaia gathering we'll head outside and ring bells 350 times. Bells, have been used by spiritual communities to signal danger and call folks into community. 350 carbon parts per million is the upper limit our atmosphere can tolerate. 200 years ago it was 275, now it is 390. WE MUST GET BACK to 350. Dinner bells, Christmas bells, Cow bells, Jingle Bells, bring what you have. Saturday, Jan.16, 9:30 am -4:30 pm 1032 Cameron Lane, off Barry Line Road) $75. Attend one or both parts. Leader: Andrea Mathieson is deeply able to introduce us to the meditative practice of nature-divination. Author of Gaia's Invitation, Poems from the Sacred Earth. This profound collection of prayerful poems are a result of fifteen years experience creating flower essences in her garden and listening for the pulse of Eros within Nature. Friday evening, Andrea will share the creative process involved in writing Gaia's Invitation along with a beautiful slideshow called A Love Affair with Nature. An introduction to 'intuition' as the most eloquent language of the soul. Bring a personal question as you enter the New Year. Using the poetry of Gaia's Invitation, Andrea will help us learn how to listen for and interpret a personal message from the Spirit of the Earth. Saturday - Workshop Through deep listening, movement, sound, and ritual, Andrea will facilitate several intuitive and body-centered conversations with the Earth. Explore your life work and passion for the earth, and the earth's passion and need for you in this New Year. Bring an open-heart, a sense of wonder, and the wisdom of the body. Learn a language that includes image, sensation, and intuitive attunement with all life. Intuition, our primary wisdom, opens a field of multi-dimensional communion with all Life.
