| Tastes of Haliburton July 18 2008 Join for a full day of fantastic taste touring. We’ll start your day with an informative wild edibles hike in the company of one of our knowledgeable local guides, moving on to the Wintergreen Barn where you will learn to make your own Haliburton Tortiere or Maple Syrup Pie. Guess what’s for lunch?! Then it’s off to visit Waverly Brook Farms, a fascinating family run organic farm for four seasons of flavour; followed by a behind the scenes tour of Moon Shadows Estate Winery, a unique winemaker who uses homemade maple syrup and fruit to produce some incredibly tasty wines. This 'all inclusive tour' includes complimentary samples! Cap off the day with an optional fine dining experience, Haliburton-style! Ask us about a package with accommodation. Registration required. TOWN FESTIVAL | |
| A wonderful small town festival featuring a wide range of activities and displays. The day highlights historic trades and crafts, so come and see local folks demonstrate things like blacksmithing, pottery, rush weaving, chair caning, looming, basketry, tatting, bobbin lace making, bookbinding, carving, tinsmithing, spinning, weaving and rug hooking. You can even try some yourself! Enjoy the bake sale, BBQ lunch, and the museum's famous Citron Marmalade. The Muskoka Wildlife Centre is LIVE! at 11am and there are Kid's Games all day. There are terrific displays including Haliburton Model Railroaders, Quilts, Betty the Washer Woman & her granny’s drawers, local authors and their history books, Art in the Street, our always-intriguing antique “What Is It?” and Joe Smith's incredible antique cameras. See Haliburton Gold - the county’s 10,000 year old fish species, check out the Heritage Gardens, and visit with folks from Trails and Tours and Haliburton Water Trails. 9 am to 2 pm. $2 Admission. 100% volunteer and proud of it! | Summer Nights - Wine & Cuisine Festival August 2-3 2008 Summer Nights is a two day sampling festival featuring over 50 exhibitors from the wine, food and beverage industries. Among many attractions, the festival will feature interactive tasting seminars performed by some of Canada's top tasting experts. In addition, the event will also include a licensed blues and jazz concert on Saturday night featuring the Juno award winning band "Fathead". | Minden Hills Museum Village Farmers Market August 2 2008 Saturdays June 21, 28, July 5, 12, 19, 26, August 2 & 9. Minden Hills Museum 9am to 12pm Step back to the 1800s as the museum's village comes alive with an old-fashioned market. Vendors from various communities will be offering arts and crafts, books, fresh Ontario produce, baked goods, candles, herbs, plants / flowers etc. Support your local farmers and groups. While picking up your morning items, visit the blacksmith who will be pounding away on the anvil. He would certainly welcome your interest and questions. Or peek in on the school teacher she may have some lesson work for you; listen to the choir at the Wee Kirk and help with the day-to-day chores of the Bowron Log Home. Enjoy the old-fashioned ambiance and walk the labyrinth. Admission to the museum grounds is free on these Saturday mornings.
