CHET DOXAS QUARTET (Montreal and New York City)
Featuring Chet Doxas-tenor saxophone, Matt Stevens-guitar, Zack Lober-bass and Eric Doob-drums
The Juno nominated saxophonist, Chet Doxas, one of Canada's great jazz players has brought together some of the brightest young voices on the New York jazz scene to perform his original compositions. His past shows at the Cove include: a quartet with the famous jazz guitarist John Abercrombie, a night with his new indie/folk/jazz group MUSE HILL featuring The Barr Brothers and most recently with Bunny Stewart and the Cowan Brothers. All shows have stunned audiences. He is now the sax players for Canadian rock and rollers, The Sam Roberts Band and plays with a who's who of international Jazz stars on a regular basis in Montreal. He's also a CBC favorite with Katie Malloch.
Guitarist, Matt Stevens has been a standout member of trumpeter Christian Scott's group for many years and successfully leads his own groups which record and tour throughout the world.
Zack Lober is one of New York City's most sought-after bassists and is often called upon for his exceptional abilities to perform original music. Zack can be heard playing in a variety of ensembles led by saxophonist/composer, Dave Binney.
Eric Doob is a drummer who is getting a lot of attention from musicians and fans alike. His explosive playing has been called upon by saxophonist, Miguel Zenon, among many others.
