SUMMER IS HERE!
The lake cooled off a bit in June but the temperature is now on the way up. The water has been good so far and we have been swimming since the May Long weekend. Wild life is everywhere; flocks of wild turkeys, fox, and deer are abundant. Chinook, our new straw bale cottage is amazing for anyone with a family and looking for very nice spot to vacation. The building is now finished and we had our first guests during the G8 event in the third week of June. It's peaceful at Foxwood and it's a great place to relax and unwind. There is still some selection of cottages available for the summer, but call us soon.

Book Chinook This Summer
The construction of our next cottage is now complete. Like Snowshoe cottage which we built as a solar powered cottage 4 years ago, Chinook cottage will be eco-friendly. This time however, we are building the house using straw bales. We want to be at the leading edge of operating in a sustainable manner and so this cottage will a shining example of "green" design. Chinookis our largest cottage at over 2800sq ft with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a Muskoka porch and a huge living space. Check out our BLOG to get updates and photos. First Chickens - Now Bees and a Garden!
When we introduced our laying hens a few years ago they were a huge hit with everyone, particularly the kids who often helped to gather the eggs. And there is nothing like fresh eggs for breakfast! We are also beekeeepers having started our first hive in June 2008. Ask for our amazing honey next time you visit. Our organic vegetable garden started a few years ago, and in addition to our strong emphasis on recycling, we also offer composting.
Out of the Lake, into the Sauna...
Our waterfront dry sauna is ready and waiting. What a treat. It can be an invigorating experience to take a refreshing dip in the lake during fall or spring and then follow it up with the cleansing sensation of a hot sauna. Wow!
