The Forest Festival
August 22-31 2008

Renowned Canadian artists and performers will be entertaining audiences with a series of concerts, dance performances and environmental art installations.

On the shores of Bone Lake, at Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve, the sounds of taiko drummers, classical brass, soul-stirring arias and much, much more, will be heard.

Featuring a sonic landscape of the forest on a guided walk led by the founder of the acoustic ecology movement, R. Murray Schafer himself.

Kinmount Fair
August 29 - 31

Every Labour Day weekend, the town of Kinmount plays host to thousands of people coming to our community's fall fair.

Featuring such events as:

- Saddle Horse Show in Show Ring
- Pay one price - Ride all Day Midway for $25.00
- FAMILY CIRCUS SHOW
- Exotic Animals; Petting Zoo & Pony Rides in Kiddyland

STANHOPE FIRE DEPT POKER RUN
Sat. Sept 27th

Beginner/intermediate and intermediate/expert separate runs. Thousands in prizes. Food to die for. Three meals!!! Buffet breakfast, on trail BBQ lunch, BIG buffet dinner - roast beef, roast turkey and the whole nine yards. If you were at previous events you know how good the food was!! Big success last year and a worthy cause. Stanhope Fire Dept is using the proceeds to by safety equipment that could save your life on the trails.

Book early to avoid disappointment. To pre register contact Keith Thomas at (705)489 3548 evenings and (705)489 2711 days.

Online registration link will be coming. Cost for the Poker run is $65 including the three meals. HATVA guides will be running the trails. Trails are flagged. There will be at least two check points on each trail. You must have HATVA pass or a daily pass ($12) for this event. Passes available on site at registration.
